GetTLE (PocketTLE) v1.1

Home Page: http://www.fibs.demon.co.uk/GetTLE/GetTLE.html  Andreas Schneider
Version Release Date: 26/04/00
Shareware version: Yes
Filename: GetTLE.zip  Size: 68 KB
Details: It's a little program I created for my Palm V 'connected organizer'. It's not very useful on its own, it's a tool for PocketSat. PocketSat is a program that can tell you when certain satellites (or space stations or space shuttles) are visible at your location. In order to tell you when to look where for a satellite, PocketSat needs information about the path the satellite takes while orbiting earth. This information is published on the internet on web pages containing data in the so-called TLE (Two Line Elements) format. You put those web pages onto your PC, convert them to a format that the Palm understands, HotSync and PocketSat gives the information you are looking for.

Professional astronomers can use picoSky's advanced Julian day and sidereal time calculations when making an observation report. picoSky is so simple to use that anyone can use it to help answer questions about their night sky. Pull out your cell phone, start up picoSky and find out exactly what star, constellation or planet that is!

PleiadAtlas v2.0.2

Home Page: http://astro.isi.edu/pleiadatlas/     Brian Tung
Version Release Date: 10/11/03
Shareware version: Yes
Filename: PA202.zip  Size: 2.6 MB
Details: Welcome to the PleiadAtlas Home Page. PleiadAtlas is somewhat different from other Palm planetarium programs. I wrote PleiadAtlas to help me navigate the night sky during dark-sky parties, and accordingly, its emphasis is on the depth of its stellar catalogue. The standard version plots about 25,000 stars to magnitude 7.5, as compared with the 9,000 or so to magnitude 6.5 in Planetarium (I still like Planetarium a lot, however--I'm a registered user), or in the Cambridge Star Atlas. In addition, it plots about 250 DSOs, or deep-sky objects. Besides, you put it in your pocket, which keeps it nice and toasty warm. :-) Note: Used to be called Palm Atlas.

Pocket Deepsky

Home Page: http://www.deepsky2000.net/pocket.html  Steven S Tuma
Version Release Date:
Shareware version: No - Commercial only
Filename:   Size:
Details: Welcome to Pocket Deepsky. Pocket Deepsky is based on the popular observing software suite, Deepsky 2002. It runs under the Windows CE operating system version 3, found on Pocket pc's and Handheld pc's. The primary advantage of using a Pocket PC is that it is easily portable, fitting in your pocket. As active observer's, you have enough equipment to lug around with you and bringing along a laptop just adds to it. Using software that runs on a Pocket or Handheld PC frees you up from having to set up a laptop along with its supporting equipment (mouse, power supply, etc.). Pocket Deepsky is a subset of Deepsky 2002. This means that only critical functionality for observing and driving scopes are included because Pocket PC's have limited storage capacity.
